Weighing Scales for Courier, E-commerce and Packing Dispatch
Which scale to use for parcels, courier counters and e-commerce packing: capacity, readability, platform size and speed of use.
In dispatch, weight decides the freight bill. A wrong weight means a refund, a dispute or lost margin on every parcel.
Small parcels
A table top scale with a clear display is enough for most e-commerce packing benches. Pick a capacity above your heaviest parcel and a readability of 1 g to 5 g, which is typical for parcel billing. See the table top buying guide.
Large cartons and bags
A platform scale takes bulky boxes and sacks. Make sure the platform is big enough to hold the carton fully. See the platform scale guide.
Pallets and bulk dispatch
A pallet scale weighs loads without extra handling, see pallet scales for dispatch.
Features that save time
- Quick settling, so the operator is not waiting
- Tare, to subtract the box or pallet
- Hold, if the item moves around
- Computer or printer connection for labels and records
- Battery, for use at a packing bench without a socket
