Waterproof Scales for Food, Dairy and Wet Areas

When you need a washdown scale, what IP65 and IP67 mean, and how to choose one for food processing, dairy, fish and chemicals.

Water and electronics are a poor mix. In kitchens, dairies, fish markets and washing bays an ordinary scale rusts and fails in months. A waterproof scale is built to survive the wash.

What the IP rating means

  • IP65: protected against dust and water jets from any direction
  • IP67: protected against dust and temporary immersion in water
  • The first digit is dust protection and the second is water protection; higher is better.

Always check the rating of the exact model you are buying; ask us and we will confirm it.

Choosing one

  • Capacity and readability for your product, our waterproof table top scales range from 0.1 g up to 6 kg
  • Stainless steel pan that is easy to clean
  • Sealed keys and display
  • A rechargeable battery, so no cable lies in the water

Cleaning

Wash with water and mild detergent. Avoid high-pressure jets and harsh chemicals unless the manual allows it. Dry the pan and keep the unit level after cleaning.
